Harajuku Lovers A Fatal Attraction to Cuteness

by Karmaloop Rep Code

Harajuku (hara-joo-koo) n. 1. A style and attitude of Japanese girls from Harajuku, Tokyo. n. 2. Anything goes: outrageous, layered, and eye-catching.

Harajuku Lovers is a fragrance, clothing and accessories collection that captures the lyrics and iconography from Gwen Stefani’s albums. Inspired by the electric streets of the Harajuku shopping district in Tokyo, these unique fragrances, in their adorable doll-decanters, will appeal to anyone with a “fatal attraction to cuteness.” Choose the girl that best fits your personality or grab them all to feed your changing moods.

The concept for Harajuku Lovers revolves around Gwen Stefani’s entourage of four “Harajuku Girls” – Love, Angel, Music, and Baby. Unlike her LAMB fashion line which catered to a more mainstream demographic, Harajuku Lovers tends to focus more on her fan base.

Kawaii depictions of Stefani and her dancers as well as the kanji logo are all over the range. Kawaii is the quality of cuteness in the context of Japanese culture. The adjective kawaii, which literally means lovable, cute, or adorable, has taken on the secondary meanings of cool, groovy, desirable, and charming. HarajukuHarajuku Lovers fragrances

The Harajuku Lovers fragrance collection offers five distinct scents named after the girls and Stefani herself.

The floral fragrance Love represents the nice, soft, and caring girl. Lil’ Angel has a touch of fruity fun. Baby is innocent and exciting with floral and woody musk notes.

The strongest of the five fragrances is Music, featuring invigorating scents of clementine, pear, jasmine sambac, sweet pea, honeysuckle, vanilla, skin musk, and sleek woods.

Like Stefani, the G fragrance line is modern and lively with hints of fresh coconut, jasmine, and cotton woods.

In December 2011, Harajuku Lovers released a limited edition fragrance for the holidays called Jingle G. Warm and cozy, this fruity-oriental scent features hints of gardenia, tangerine, honeysuckle, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla, and cedar. Jingle G is decked out in a Santa suit with a built-in hook in her cap so you can add her to your tree décor. With a bright red hair bow and gold belt buckle to hold up her three-button suit, Jingle G celebrates the holiday in festive style.

Harajuku Lovers fashion

If you are crazy about fashion, then the narrow pedestrian-only street of Takeshita-Dori is definitely the place to be. The Harajuku Girls and G are prowling the streets of Harajuku dressed in fashions that originated in Japan – Gothic Lolita, Sweet Lolita, Visual Kei, Kawaii, and the Omotesando Girl. Each girl has her own distinct “wicked style” that is expressed in her brightly colored ‘flocked’ hair and her super cute shoes.

The Harajuku Lovers clothing line is produced and licensed by Jerry Leigh while its stationery collection is made by Nakajima USA.
