DGK: Skate Apparel and Accessories with An Edge

by Karmaloop Rep Code

DGK is the fashion label of Stevie Williams, one of the hottest professional street skateboarders today. An acronym for Dirty Ghetto Kids, DGK offers skate decks, apparel, and accessories featuring humorous and in-your-face artwork.

Brand history

Stevie Williams started skateboarding at the age of 11, riding the aggressive Philadelphia skateboarding scene during his teenage years. Williams and his crew were often bullied at Love Park, tagged with the name “Dirty Ghetto Kids”. With a chip on his shoulder, Stevie turned this experience into something positive. He moved to San Francisco at the age of 14 to pursue his dream of becoming a professional skateboarder. When the opportunity to start his own company came in 2002, he named his skate label DGK.

Williams went from homeless to pro skater to entrepreneur to multimedia mogul, and in December 2007, Black Enterprise Magazine named him to its list of the most powerful players under 40. Stevie Williams has become one of the hottest street skateboarders in the country, earning respect and acclamation from the top athletes in the sport as well as the major influencers in the industry.

Through DGK and his success story, Williams aims to inspire kids to take on adversity head on and turn nothing into something. He sponsors an impressive roster of young skate superstars such as Marcus McBride, Lenny Rivas, Jack Curtin, Wade Desarmo, Darren Harper, Rodrigo Lima and Keelan Dadd.

DGK is now a highly sought-after lifestyle brand that produces skateboard decks, shirts, outerwear, headwear and accessories. One of its bestsellers is the “I Love Haters” snapback with the word Motivation printed on the underside of the lid. The Haters series now includes baller IDs, carabiner keychains, and lanyards.

DGK has also collaborated with big labels such as G-Shock, New Era, Venture Trucks, Gold Wheels, and 9Five Eyewear.
