Erica Weiner Jewelry with humor and vintage flair

by Karmaloop Rep Code

Erica Weiner is an independent jewelry designer based in New York City. Her eponymous line is known for its sense of humor and vintage flair.

Erica Weiner offers bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches, dress clips, pins, cuffs, and hair combs, as well as special collections of fine and antique jewelry and wedding accessories.

About the designer

Weiner took up art history at Vassar College, where she became interested in ruins and souvenirs. This curiosity can be seen in her trinket-flecked collection which started with a pair of earrings with a bird, gun and a heart. She made 20 sets of those earrings, signed up for a craft fair in Philadelphia, and walked away with $600.

After that first earring design, things took off quickly for Erica. She honed her design and production skills as a theatrical costumer and sample maker in the fashion industry. Over the years and throughout her travels, she gathered a collection of charms and developed a line of jewelry with an emphasis on craftsmanship and affordability. The collection grew exponentially, as did her fan base. Her biggest break came in 2005 when she got an order for 10,000 necklaces from an Anthropologie buyer.

Erica Weiner jewelry pieces are popular for their playful designs. The Sweetheart necklace series comes with witty inscriptions and can be customized with anything you want to write on either side. Each vintage heart necklace has a 15-inch chain and a brass clasp.

The Heartbeats necklace features some quotable lyrics from R. Kelly, Fleetwood Mac, Shaggy, Rayvon, Dolly Parton, and other artists stamped on a 1-inch wide heart charm. The Heartbeats necklace is available in two finishes: oxidized matte silver plate or glossy 14K gold plate. Chains are around 16 inches — which makes these necklaces perfect for layering with medium-length and longer chains.

Most of Weiner’s earrings are made with 14K gold-plated brass hooks, but she also creates gold-filled and sterling silver posts for customers with sensitive skin.

Packing materials are reused and mailers are 90% post-consumer paper and 100% recyclable. Weiner uses clear plastic-like bags that are made from corn technology and are biodegradable and compostable. About half of the Weiner collection is vintage, dead stock and re-purposed. The company offsets 300% of its carbon output through And most importantly, each piece is handmade in New York City.

Erica Weiner donates 5% of all after-tax profits to charity.
